what happens when a credit card company takes you to court locally?
we're dealing with a company to help us pay our debts off by negotiating a lower settlement cost for us, but first we need to have a certain percentage of our total debt saved up. that'll be awhile and meanwhile, this is happening. anyone else been there-done that who can advise me on what happens now?

- you should file a bankruptcy first before you deal with the court so that you wont be liable to give anything to them, because you dont have anymore money or assets to give.
- I would consult an attorney about it. If you can't do that because of money issues - talk to the firm who is "helping" you to get out ot debt. They of all should be able to have exactly what you should do all planned out for you. If they can't help you on it... I would SERIOUSLY be looking into a different company to help me in this. There are non-profit agencies out there who know everything about this sort of thing. Good luck
- I looked into the debt help companies out there when i was in that boat, My very good banker advised me to stay away from them they can take your money and never pay a dime on your bills, he stsated that he had alot of customers that very thing happened to, look out.
