  6. Get a personal loan to cover the cost of your credit card debt. Make sure that the interest rate is lower that what you are currently paying. Cut up your credit cards and start to live within your means. Sounds harsh, I know but needs to be said.

They will review your debt situation and honestly tell you if you are too far gone for Credit Counseling or Debt Settlement and need to consider Chapter 7. Watch out for the fly-by-night counseling services. Many of them charge exhorbitant maintenence fees to simply hold your money for you. The best place to start is The National Foundation for Credit Counseling at http://www.nfcc.org. From there, you can find your local CCCS agency.

  15. If you are in the UK then have a look what the office of fair trading has said about unjust credit card charges, it won't clear your debt but you might be able to take the credit card provider to the small claims court to recover any unjust fees charged that has contributed to your debt.
