  2. Create a budget for yourself and figure out what you've got coming in a monthly basis and what you've got going out. Cut what you've got going on in reasonable ways and figure out small ways to increase what you got going in. Sounds stupid and simple but sometimes simple is what you just forget to think of.

  4. Start with your credit cards-- Take the highest balance card and pay extra on it(as much extra as you can). When you get your highest card paid off, go to the next highest card and make extra payments. Do this until all of them are paid off. Start using cash for everything, if you continue to use the cards, you will continue to stay in debt. Start saving 10% of your paychecks in an account-- At first it might not seem like much, but over time you will save as much or more hopefully then you owe. Don't spend it! Hope this helps and Good Luck!
  5. The first thing you have to do is decide that you want to get out of debt. I have read Dave Ramsey's book, The Total Money Makeover, and listen to his radio show regularly. He is big on helping people get out of debt, check him out. Anyway, he teaches people to first, get an "emergancy fund" of $1000. This way, if you have a little emergancy, you will be able to pay for it in cash instead of getting back into debt. Then, you need to create a monthly budget. Inclulde all of your expenses and spend every dollar you make on that budget before it comes in. The trick here is, that you need to stick with your budget!!! Then, list all of your debts (credit cards, cars, personal loans, etc.) smallest to largest. and start paying off the smallest debt first. Dave suggests paying the smallest debt first so that you will have a "small victory" to keep you energized. The trick is to pay minimums on everything except that smallest debt. Don't save money for retirement, don't pay down 3 credit cards at once, but pay minimums on everything but that one debt. If after cutting up your budget and buing only necessities, you have an extra $150 per month, put that $150 towards that smallest debt. After you pay off debt #1, put all of the money you were paying towards it plus the minimum payment of debt #2 towards that debt. If you stick with this plan, you will be out of debt in no time! Good luck!!
