Negotiate a Debt Settlement

Feedback on finding debt settlement....?

I have a question for people that enrollled into a debt settlement program. I know there are a lot of strong feelings on both side about debt settlement. I just want to know if someone was thinking about joining it....where would they look? search engines, telemarketing, mailers, or banner ads. Has anyone done debt settlement and if so....how did they find the company they enrolled with.

  1. They all do the same thing. This how they do the 'magic' that they do. You give them control of your debts. They stop all payments and put you into default, ON PURPOSE. Then they go to each of your creditors and make deals with them. Usually it's just a freeze on your account with a low interest rate. But you're listed as a deadbeat. You can do this yourself. But there's no need. Usually you just do what is called a debt snowball. The site below describes it. The explanation is like 2 sentences long. It's easy. I LOVE credit stuff and questions and answers. Here is one of my favorite sound bytes from a financial guru. Before you do ANYTHING else, listen to this. Scroll down and click "Listen to Dave". This is like getting financial wisdom from Bill Gates except this guy has a national radio show.
  2. I found a site with several different companies and a lot of information about debt settlement. My advice would be to check out the sites of the different companies, decide which one fits your needs the best, then check with the BBB online to see if they have any complaints against them. http://www.information-pro.com/debt-relief/
