Negotiate a Debt Settlement

Debt Settlement Company?

I have been looking to find a debt settlement company that will reduce my debts and help me to be debt free in about 24 months. I know that my credit will be affected but i don't intend to use my credit for any large purchases for about 4 more years. After all my good credit only seems to be getting me into more debt trouble and I couldn't afford to get any more credit anyways right now.

  2. I wouldn't suggest signing up with a debt settlement company. I work for a global bank with millions of Customers and I've seen many people hurt by going with a debt settlement company or attorney. Three major lenders (That I know of for sure) will not deal with any of these agencies; Bank of America, GE Money Bank, and Citi. Read up on your debts and make sure one of these companies doesn't finance the card or product. If your debt is over say...$2000 or so, and one of the banks listed above receives documentation you are being represented by one of these debt settlement companies (Along with a cease and desist order), chances are they are sending your account to legal. I know this because I see it daily. These debt settlement companies tell you to avoid talking to your creditors and don't open your mail. I have spoken to dozens and dozens of people pleading to work something out because my bank took them to court as soon as they received a cease and desist from one of these debt settlement companies. Besides...If you want to settle a debt, do it yourself. I've settled a $1600 balance on my friend's auto loan for $25.
