Has anyone had luck with debt settlement companies for credit card debt? I am in Ohio and do not want to file chapter 13. Looking to make settlement to credit cards. I am looking for reputation companies that do credit card settlement. What do these companies charge. 50,000 in credit card debt at 23% apr. Do not want to go to consumer counseling, we can get a loan from family for 25,000 to pay off total. Can not afford to pay anymore. We need to help our son who has some medical issues.
Does anyone know the difference between Debt Settlement Companies and CCCs Companies? Which is better? I have some credit card debt and I don't know what credit card company to consider, either a "CCCS" or Debt Settlement company. Is there a better alternitive to either?
I need some answers about debt settlement and companies who do debt settlements.? I have some serious debt issues and need some help. I talked to a debt settlement company, but I can't find any specific information about them. Does anyone know about American Financial Services or Axiom Financial Solutions? And does debt settlement really screw up your credit as badly as some would have you believe? It seems to me if you have unsecured debt you can't pay that would damage your credit just as badly. Help! I need info from somebody who knows about these things.

Where can I go to find what to do with debt settlement companies that rip you off? Help!? I did not understand what a debt settlement company was all about. I thought I did but I soon found out it was not what I thought. I have made a mistake! They have a lot of my money and I thought I was doing the right thing. I just want to get my bill paid. are there any debt settlement companies that are legitimate? I have several old debts at least three years old that have been put into collections...haven't been able to pay on any in years. Looking to pay off but cannot make very high monthly payments so the CCS seems like it wouldn't work since I have SO many creditors to work with and so little money. The credit counseling pays off the whole balance due which has been greatly increased unecessarily. Looking for some debt reduction and a monthly payment option. Is debt settlement right?

Are debt settlement companies a scam? I was thinking of signing up with a debt settlement company but I have heard the debt settlement companies not what they seem. They promise to settle your credit card and unsecured debt for half or less than what you owe. I have heard what they don't tell you is that you usually get sued, get your wages garnished, and that the debt settlement companies over report what they actually save you while charging you a huge fee. In addition, I have heard that your savings are reported to the IRS as income and that your credit report is trashed. Supposedly their seemingly caring sales people are paid high commissions. Apparently you can negotiate with your creditors and be just as successful while saving the thousands of dollars these companies charge you. What I want to know is if all that is really true about these companies and can I actually negotiate with my creditors myself and save thousands in fees. I need the scoop from someone that is honest and knows the truth about these companies

What is the difference between consolidation and debt settlement company? I called creditsolutions a minute ago and they told me that they are not a consolidation company. I told them that I have a debt for 16,000. They told me that they can get my debt company to settle for 9,800. and they charge a 15% fee. Does this sounds okay. Please recommend me to some other company but not consolidation I do not want to consolidate I want a debt settlement company. I recently contacted the credit exchange company in regards to an old car repossesion that my husband has to get more info on debt settlement etc.. well they tried to make me sign and seal the deal at all costs but I let them know I wasnt going to make such a big desision without my husband agreeing. I enrolled with Renaissance Debt Solutions out of MD and paid the initial $349 start up fee to help me with credit cards and a repo that I have been paying on for 3 1/2 yrs. I don’t want a credit counseling program, I want a company that negotiates and settles debts for less then the balances are. I heard that many are rip offs and don’t need any more problems.
